“Choose Respect”Update

Hello all – the “Choose Respect” potluck USAFV held last night was a wonderful success.
About 30 people, including staff and board, attended, and there were five speakers. The food was excellent, the room was decorated beautifully, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and really take the issues discussed seriously. I noticed that most people hung around for quite a while after the speakers finished and after eating, which is always the sign of a successful event.
IMHO it was such a success that I think we should consider doing a potluck every April, since it is Child Abuse Awareness Month, Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
We will of course be sending out thank you notes to all the speakers and all those who helped out in various ways…look for some pictures later…
Thanks very much to all the staff who helped to put this together: Karen Pilande, Holly Wood, Katherine Mears, and especially Jennifer Blair, who truly spearheaded the event. You all did an awesome job, and people really enjoyed themselves.
